Privacy Policy

FlashNurse ("we," "us," "the Site") is a free study tool for nursing and pre-nursing students. This policy explains what information the Site does, and does not, collect.
The short version
FlashNurse has no user accounts and collects no personal information. Your study progress is saved only on your own device. We use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic to the Site — aggregated numbers like how many people visit and which pages they view, not anything that identifies you individually. That's the whole policy in a couple of sentences — the rest of this page spells it out in detail.
No accounts, no personal information
FlashNurse requires no sign-up, login, email address, or payment information to use any feature of the Site. We don't ask for your name, and we have no way to identify who you are.
What's stored on your device
FlashNurse uses your browser's localStorage — a small amount of storage built into every browser — to remember:
- Which cards you've rated Know It, Almost There, or Needs Review
- Your study session history and counts
- Display preferences, like whether you want the term or definition on the front of a card, or whether memory hooks and clinical tips are shown
This information stays entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party, because FlashNurse has no server to send it to — the Site is entirely static files served to your browser. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for flashnurse.com, or by using a private/incognito window.
Cookies
FlashNurse itself does not set any cookies — your study progress and preferences use localStorage, a different browser mechanism that (unlike cookies) isn't sent to any server with each page request. Google Analytics, described below, does set a small number of first-party cookies to distinguish visits and sessions; see the Advertising and analytics section for details.
Installing FlashNurse as an app (PWA)
FlashNurse can be installed to your phone or computer's home screen as a Progressive Web App. Installing it downloads the Site's static files — pages, styles, and flashcard content — to your device so you can use it offline. This works the same way your browser already caches websites you visit often. It does not collect or transmit any personal data, and it doesn't install any hidden software beyond the Site's own public files. You can uninstall it at any time the same way you'd remove any other app or browser shortcut.
Advertising and analytics
FlashNurse uses Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used — for example, how many people visit, which decks are popular, and what devices or browsers they use. This data is aggregated and anonymized; it is not used to identify you personally, and FlashNurse does not combine it with any other information about you (we don't have any other information about you to combine it with). Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to do this. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies/trackers in your browser's privacy settings.
FlashNurse does not currently use any advertising network. If that changes in the future — for example, to help keep the Site free to run — we'll update this policy before doing so, disclosing exactly what's added and what data, if any, it involves.
Children's privacy
FlashNurse is intended for pre-nursing and nursing students, generally high school age and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because we don't collect personal information from any user, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if we add advertising — we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
